The Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH) Mock Trial Academy is an annual program dedicated to advancing trial advocacy skills in administrative law. The DOAH Mock Trial Academy is a week-long event that provides hands-on trial experience to administrative law practitioners. Participants engage in realistic courtroom simulations, taking on the roles of attorneys and witnesses. The Pennington team was represented in the 2024 DOAH Mock Trial Academy by: Chad Dunn, who served as a coach for the Admin Law Avengers; Rachel Givens, who participated as a member of the Big Cats Legal Royalty; and Marc Ito, who reprised his role as a key witness, Charles Jones. Pennington P.A. Obtains Full Defense Verdict in Negligent Security Case

Shareholder, Brian Chojnowski, and Associate, Annabelle Maddox, recently obtained a full defense verdict in a case involving negligent security and damage to property in Gadsden County, Florida. The plaintiff alleged the security system the defendant commercial vehicle repair company had in place was insufficient to prevent a break-in, which resulted in the theft of the plaintiff’s property. The jury ultimately found that the defendant was not negligent and thus not liable for the plaintiff’s damages.
